Gourma: The governor of the Goulmou region, Ram Joseph Kafando, launched the community police initiative "Police Jaki" or "neighbor police" in Gourmantchema, in Fada N'Gourma. This initiative is aimed at strengthening community policing through prevention, citizen participation, and fostering mutual trust between security forces and the population.
According to Burkina Information Agency, the community police force, termed "Police Jaki" or "neighbor police," was initiated by the general directorate of the national police. Representing the president of the special delegation of the commune of Fada N'Gourma, the first vice-president, Ernest Natama, welcomed the initiative as a timely response to current security challenges. He emphasized that security is essential for development and social cohesion and expressed the municipality's readiness to support this innovative approach.
The regional director of the national police in Goulmou, Bonaventure Dembele, explained that the Jaki Police aims to establish ongoing dialogue with the population, identify neighborhood-specific security risks, and promote the co-production of security. He urged citizens to collaborate with officers, highlighting that this community policing approach focuses on awareness and listening over repression.
Barnabe Compaore, the Attorney General at the Court of Appeal of Fada N'Gourma, who also served as the patron of the ceremony, emphasized the importance of anticipating security threats through a participatory approach. He stated that the "Jaki Police" is a strategic response to prevent crime and build trust between the state and citizens.

He remarked, "Security is a shared responsibility that requires the commitment of everyone," urging the population to fully embrace this system.
To support the officers' mobility and enhance their proximity to the population, several motorcycles have been procured as part of the "Jaki Police" implementation. The governor officially launched the activities of this new unit, expressing hope that it would contribute to strengthening social cohesion, consolidating peace, and improving security sustainably in the Goulmou region.
