Komondjari: The Catholic faithful of the Saint Joseph Artisan parish in Gogo celebrated, on Sunday, May 3, 2026, the 75th anniversary of evangelization as well as the 10th anniversary of the erection of their parish. This celebration saw a strong mobilization of the faithful, the vital forces of the Nazinon region, the Zoundweogo province, as well as nationals of Gogo who came from various localities of the country.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the event was placed under the banner of strengthening Christian faith and promoting peace, serving as a moment of communion and spiritual fervor. In his homily, Bishop Leopold Medar proceeded to bless the new altar, crucifix, and tabernacle, expressing his joy at the turnout of the faithful. He emphasized the commitment of the congregation to living their Christian faith fully, urging them to continue cultivating unity and love of neighbor.

The bishop also invited the faithful to pray for their predecessors, paying tribute to the pioneers of the parish, including the late Bouda Joseph, the first catechist, Father Ouiya Jean Baptiste, the first parish priest, Father Congo Pascal, the first vicar, and all those who contributed to the establishment of the Christian faith in Gogo, from the creation of the branch in 1951 until the erection of the parish on April 25, 2015.

In addition to the Eucharistic celebration, several activities marked this anniversary, including a fair, nights of praise and adoration, a women's cycling race, a gala match, and a raffle with a motorcycle as the first prize. The parish priest, Father Gnanou Constant, expressed his gratitude to the provincial and municipal authorities, the organizing committee, and all contributors to the success of the event.
