Nayala: Mother Teresa School No. 2 in Toma hosted, on Tuesday, May 5, 2026, the rotating ceremony for raising the national colors of the educational world of the province of Nayala, in the presence of education officials, school directors, and administrative staff of the Basic Education District (CEB) of Toma.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the event began with the performance of the national anthem in the San language, followed by a welcome address from the headmaster of the host school, Botoni Pascal. He took the opportunity to introduce the participants to the school and its various educational initiatives. These include the teaching of English, the wearing of Faso Danfani, the promotion of national languages, the school garden, and practical activities such as making K´k´ Dunda loincloths and soap.

Speakers at the event praised these initiatives, acknowledging their contribution to educational reforms and the promotion of practical learning for students. The representative of the provincial director of preschool, primary, and non-formal education in Nayala, Inspector Adama Zoungrana, delivered a message from the Minister in charge of Basic Education. This message was presented on the occasion of the commemoration of African Languages Week and International Mother Language Day, 2026 edition.

In the minister's message, there was an emphasis on the importance of national languages in education, social cohesion, and the building of a sovereign Burkina Faso. The minister called upon all stakeholders to strengthen the promotion and use of national languages across various sectors of national life.

Inspector Lassina ToE ensured the minister's message reached the students by translating it into their native San language. The ceremony concluded with a prayer for peace in Burkina Faso and for the success of the school.
