Niaogho: The mining company Kiaka SA carried out, on Thursday, a handover of certified seeds and livestock feed to the benefit of the people affected by the project (PAP). This initiative aims to support beneficiaries in the agricultural campaign and to contribute to the improvement of their living conditions as well as those of their livestock.According to Burkina Information Agency, the handover ceremony took place in the presence of the representative of Kiaka SA, Carine Ilboudo, supervisor of community relations and complaints manager, agents of the mining company, technical services, and beneficiaries. Ms. Ilboudo stated that this action is part of the social support measures implemented by the company for the benefit of populations impacted by the mining project. 'The objective is to support the beneficiaries for a successful agricultural campaign, to strengthen their food self-sufficiency and to contribute to improving their incomes,' she said.The support consists of 12 tonnes of certified maize se eds of the "Wari" variety, recognized for its short cycle of 85 days, its estimated germination rate of 95%, and its yield of up to 6.5 tonnes per hectare. According to agricultural technical officials, this variety has characteristics adapted to the climatic conditions of the area and can help improve agricultural yields for beneficiary producers.In addition to the seeds, Kiaka SA donated 40 tons of cottonseed cake for livestock feed. According to technicians, this feed has a nutritional quality that promotes the health and productive capacity of the animals. In total, 694 people from the provinces of Boulgou and Zoundwéogo benefit from this support, as well as more than 1,600 draft oxen.The technical services present at the ceremony praised the mining company's initiative as well as the quality of the agricultural inputs and food made available to producers and livestock farmers. The beneficiaries, for their part, expressed their satisfaction and gratitude to Kiaka SA for this support, which they consid er to be a support for the success of the agricultural campaign and the care of the livestock. Through this action, Kiaka SA intends to continue its initiatives to support communities affected by the mining project, in line with the needs expressed by the beneficiary populations.
