SOSUCO Triumphs at Inaugural Inter-Service Football Tournament in B©r©gadougou

B©r©gadougou: SOSUCO wins the trophy at the first edition of the inter-services tournament. The B©r©gadougou municipal stadium hosted the final of the first inter-service football tournament on Saturday. This competition, which brought together eight teams from the public and private sectors of the municipality, ended with SOSUCO defeating the cashew-mango sector team.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the final match was fiercely contested, keeping the crowd on the edge of their seats until the very end. Both teams played a balanced game, alternating between attacking phases and solid defensive plays. Despite several chances for both sides, no goals were scored during regulation time. The two teams were ultimately separated by a penalty shootout.

More effective in this exercise, SOSUCO prevailed 2-1 on penalties, thus winning the trophy for this inaugural edition. The victorious team took home 30,000 FCFA and a set of jerseys. The cashew-mango sector, the runner-up, received 20,000 FCFA and a set of jerseys. The masonry, painting, and tiling team, which finished third, received 15,000 FCFA.

In addition to football, board games have also been added to this competition to allow greater participation from the population and to further strengthen the bonds of conviviality between the participants.

Following the finale, the organizer, D©sir© Perfect Zerbo, expressed his gratitude to the Minister of State for Agriculture, Isma«l Sombi©, the President of the Special Delegation, Mahamadi Sawadogo, the sponsors, the administrative authorities, and all the partners who supported the organization of this inaugural event. He also commended the strong turnover of the people of B©r©gadougou and congratulated the participating teams for their commitment and sportsmanship.

The promoter also mentioned some difficulties encountered during the organization. He specifically cited financial constraints and the absence of certain services that were unable to participate in the competition due to staff shortages.

According to the organizers, the tournament aimed to promote social cohesion and harmonious coexistence between public and private sector workers, to encourage the exchange of experiences and better collaboration for the development of the community. It also sought to mobilize the population around the authorities of Burkina Faso and the Defense and Security Forces (FDS) for the reconquest of the national territory, while contributing to the promotion of sport in the community.
