Burkina Faso Launches Agricultural Kit Distribution to Aid Returnees

Daman©: The Burkinabe government launched an operation on Monday in Daman©, in the Kouls© region, to distribute agricultural production kits to returning populations, under the theme: 'For effective and inclusive resilience of returning populations, let us commit.' This represents an investment of over 2 billion CFA francs aimed at strengthening the livelihoods of 100,000 people in 14 regions.

According to Burkina Information Agency, as part of the national initiative "One village resettled, one power tiller," the operation aims to concretely support more than 13,000 households by providing them with a free agricultural production kit including a power tiller, improved seeds, and mineral fertilizers.

'This free provision will allow our populations to live with dignity and strengthen their food self-sufficiency,' said Dr. Amadou Dicko, Minister Delegate in charge of Animal Resources, representing the Minister of State, Minister of Agriculture, Water, Animal and Fisheries Resources.

He noted that the operation mobilizes a total of 500 power tillers, 260 tons of seeds, and 1,950 tons of fertilizer, for a total estimated value of over 2 billion CFA francs. 'We want each returning household to regain the means to restart its agricultural activities,' he added.

The deputy minister emphasized the need for all actors to strengthen resilience actions for sustainable agricultural productivity, taking into account other aspects of development.

Lieutenant-Colonel P©lagie Kabor©, Minister of Family and National Solidarity, highlighted the initiative's importance for social cohesion and local development. 'By supporting these families, we are contributing to the stabilization of the recaptured areas and the strengthening of the social fabric,' she stated, adding that 'each resettled village is a step towards dignity and self-sufficiency.'

The ceremony included performances from local groups and brought together resettled residents who expressed gratitude to the government delegation. All speakers praised the initiatives of President Captain Ibrahim Traor© and those involved in the reconquest of the national territory, highlighting their efforts in enabling the gradual return of people to their places of origin.

The "One resettled village, one power tiller" initiative is part of a broader national strategy to support resettlement and food self-sufficiency, aimed at strengthening local production bases and improving the living conditions of returning populations.
