Tenkodogo: The Regional Director of Humanitarian Action and Family Affairs for Nakamb©, Boukar© Zabsonr©, emphasized the essential contribution of the media to the success of social and humanitarian actions in the region during a meeting with media professionals in Tenkodogo. He advocated for a strengthened partnership to enhance visibility for interventions supporting vulnerable populations and promoting national solidarity.
According to Burkina Information Agency, the meeting was initiated by the Directorate of Communication and Press Relations (DCRP) of the Ministry in charge of Humanitarian Action. It brought together regional officials and media professionals to discuss communication issues related to humanitarian efforts. Boukar© Zabsonr© highlighted that the recorded successes in the region are a result of collaborative efforts between technical services, humanitarian partners, and the media.
Zabsonr© acknowledged the media's major role in raising awareness among communities about social protection, social cohesion, combating gender-based violence, and promoting the rights of vulnerable individuals. He presented an encouraging assessment of the humanitarian situation in Nakamb©, noting that from January to May 2026, approximately 800,301 tons of food were distributed to 111,473 internally displaced persons (IDPs) in the region.
He also mentioned that the combined efforts of the State, local authorities, and partners have facilitated the gradual return of 70,906 internally displaced persons to their places of origin, indicating an improvement in security conditions and community resilience.
The meeting also served as a platform to announce a media mission scheduled from June 1st to 6th, 2026, in various localities of Nakamb©. This outreach aims to highlight initiatives focusing on women's economic empowerment, protection of people with disabilities, support for the elderly, assistance for IDPs, and the socio-professional integration of vulnerable adolescent girls.
Clarifications were provided on concerns regarding the distribution of humanitarian aid. Boukar© Zabsonr© explained that repeated interventions with certain households are part of planned mechanisms by partners to ensure continuous assistance rather than duplication of beneficiaries.
In closing, the regional director reaffirmed his commitment to working closely with the media, inviting them to remain strategic partners in social action to better publicize the efforts made by the State and its partners to improve the living conditions of vulnerable populations.
