Burkina faso: The governor of the Kadiogo region, Abdoulaye Bassinga, officially launched the 2026 regional session of the Primary School Certificate (CEP) and the entrance exam for 6th grade on Tuesday morning. The ceremony took place at CEP Jury No. 1, located at the Gounghin Nord A school, which is hosting 184 candidates.
According to Burkina Information Agency, the exams mark the beginning of the 2026 school examination period. The launch event was attended by key figures including the president of the special delegation of the municipality of Ouagadougou, Maurice Konat©, and officials from the region's education system. The exams kicked off at 6:30 a.m. as invigilators began calling the candidates into the examination rooms. The delegation then visited the Gounghin Nord school examination center to encourage the candidates.
Governor Bassinga assured that the exams are proceeding smoothly, with no incidents reported. He expressed his appreciation for the educational community's efforts throughout the school year and wished the candidates success. "The Kadiogo region mobilized 77,358 candidates, including 283 living with a disability and 204 candidates in national languages. The government made efforts to allow all Burkinabe, without exception, to take the exam in good conditions," he stated.
Adjarata Sawadogo, the regional director of preschool, primary, and non-formal education in Kadiogo, commended the stakeholders' mobilization for the exams' preparation. She thanked the teaching support teams and the Defense and Security Forces for ensuring coverage at all examination centers. The Gounghin Nord center, which accommodates candidates with disabilities, has implemented special arrangements to ensure equal opportunities for success. "Each disability is different and requires tailored support," Ms. Sawadogo explained, detailing the accommodations for various disabilities.
Candidate Charbel Taonsa, appearing calm before the exams, expressed confidence in his preparation, stating, "I've been revising all school year. I think I'm going to pass my exam and make my parents happy." The exam officially began at 7:20 a.m. when officials presented the candidates with sealed envelopes containing the essay topics. The candidates began writing ten minutes later.
