Ban©: In the Boulgou province, young Placide Nonkan©, a student at the Ouada V2 public primary school, obtained his Primary School Certificate (CEP) for the 2026 session, despite suffering a broken leg just days before the exams commenced. Met by AIB after the results were announced, the newly graduated student was smiling. His success is a testament to his determination, which enabled him to overcome an accident that nearly jeopardized his chance to sit for the exam.
According to Burkina Information Agency, Placide's father, Zignan Mathias Nonkan©, who is a catechist in Ouada V2, recounted the incident. The accident took place a week before the exams, when Placide fell from a tree and fractured his leg, necessitating treatment in Koup©la. Despite his injury, Placide remained resolute in his pursuit of his diploma.
The community's support played a crucial role in his accomplishment. With the help of well-meaning individuals, Placide was able to attend all his examination sessions. His father mentioned that a benefactor ensured Placide's daily transportation between home and the examination center until the exams concluded.
Mr. Nonkan© expressed his heartfelt gratitude towards the teachers and everyone who assisted his son during this challenging period. He stated, "I thank the teachers, the volunteers, and everyone who supported Placide. I am very happy about his success despite this accident."
Looking forward, Placide is eager to continue his education. "I want to continue my studies at the college from the start of the next academic year," he shared. In the Ban© Basic Education District (CEB), which achieved a success rate of 97.66% in the 2026 CEP, Placide Nonkan©'s story exemplifies how determination, courage, and solidarity can conquer unexpected challenges.
