Guiriko: The Governor of the Guiriko region, Mariama Konat/Gnanou, enthusiastically announced the official launch of the Portals of the Regions of Burkina Faso in Ouahigouya. She highlighted the importance of this digital platform as a significant tool for enhancing visibility and attractiveness across the various regions of the country.
According to Burkina Information Agency, Governor Konat/Gnanou emphasized that the initiative serves as a valuable asset for the regions, aiming to bolster their influence and effectively showcase their strengths to investors, partners, and the general public. The platform, accessible at www.portail-regions.gov.bf, is designed to present the latest news and potential of Burkina Faso’s 17 regions in economic, cultural, tourism, and social sectors. Users are able to explore each region’s dedicated portal by clicking on their names.
The Guiriko region’s portal greets visitors with a photo and a welcoming message from Governor Mariama Konat/Gnanou, which states, “Aw dans. This portal is a dynamic showcase allowing you to discover or rediscover the immense cultural, tourist, economic, agricultural, and artisanal potential of Guiriko. The richness and diversity of these assets give Bobo-Dioulasso, the region’s capital, its status as the economic capital of Burkina Faso.” The portal further provides a map and detailed information about the region, which spans an area of 26,606 km², accounting for 9.75% of the national territory. With a population of 2,789,890, Guiriko ranks as the second most populous region in Burkina Faso.
The launch event was led by the Minister of State, Minister of Territorial Administration and Mobility, alongside the Minister of Digital Transition, Posts, and Electronic Communications, Dr. Aminata Zerbo/Saban, and other regional governors. Minister Zerbo remarked that the project aligns with the government’s vision to modernize public administration, improve information access, and highlight the potential of local areas. He stressed the platform’s role in keeping Burkinab¨ citizens informed about regional developments, encouraging their active participation in community growth.
