Ouagadougou: A traffic accident on the RN14 claims the life of a young gold miner: A traffic accident that occurred on Saturday, June 13, 2026, at approximately 6:00 PM in the village of Tio (Tnado commune) claimed the life of a young gold miner, approximately 25 years old. The truck involved was set on fire the following day by unknown individuals.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the accident occurred on National Route 14 (RN14), following a collision between an empty freight truck and a motorcycle. Initial reports suggest a technical failure of the truck forced it to veer into the oncoming lane, where it struck the motorcycle head-on.

The victim, a young married man and father of two, died instantly. He was buried in his village. Beyond the human tragedy, this accident sparked violent reactions. The day after the incident, around 8 a.m., the wrecked truck, which was partially blocking the road, was moved to the side of the road and then set on fire by unidentified individuals.

To date, no information has been released regarding the fate of the truck driver or any of his possible apprentices.
