Kourittenga: More than 3,000 Seedlings Distributed to Local Population for National Tree Day


Kourittenga: More than 3,000 seedlings have been distributed to the local population in preparation for National Tree Day, set for June 20, 2026, as part of the presidential initiative “Patriotic Hour to Green Faso.” The initiative, led by the Provincial Directorate of Water and Forests of Kourittenga, aims to promote reforestation and environmental awareness across the province.



According to Burkina Information Agency, the Provincial Directorate of Water and Forests of Kourittenga has organized the distribution of seedlings comprising seven different species. This effort is intended to benefit the communes, decentralized state structures, and the general population of the province. Soumaila Komi, the provincial director, highlighted the deployment of agents to various sites to oversee the staking-hole-drilling work crucial for the day’s success.



Komi emphasized the support being extended to municipalities, decentralized structures, and local communities in alignment with the initiative. He commended the High Commissioner of the province, Moctar Ilboudo, for his leadership in the preparation process for National Tree Day.



The event’s theme, “My concession, my tree,” calls for strong community participation. The initiative encourages residents to demonstrate patriotism and contribute to a greener Burkina Faso by engaging in tree planting activities.
