Kndougou: Viet Vo Dao champion Elyse Sourabi presented his awards to the High Commissioner of the Kndougou province, Sadou Sakira, during an audience on Wednesday. The young athlete was accompanied by a delegation from the Viet Vo Dao club of the Orodara Children’s Home, led by the provincial director in charge of Sports, Seydou Hi, with his coach, Mr. Paulin Oudraogo, at his side.
According to Burkina Information Agency, the purpose of this visit was to present to the provincial authority the performances achieved by Elyse Sourabi during the international tournament called “Grand Tournament,” organized in Morocco from May 22 to 31, 2026. At the end of the competition, the young athlete distinguished himself by winning the championship title in his category as well as six medals, including two gold, two silver, and two bronze.
This achievement has opened the doors to an international tournament scheduled in Vietnam from July 25 to August 12, 2026. He will also take part in another international competition in Italy next September. The High Commissioner of Kndougou praised the champion’s performance and congratulated the entire technical staff for the work accomplished.
Sadou Sakira expressed that these results are a source of pride for the province of Kndougou and for Burkina Faso as a whole. ‘Your journey is proof that talent, when supported by work, discipline, and perseverance, allows one to reach the highest levels of competition. Through your exploits, you contribute to the prestige of Kndougou and Burkina Faso on the international stage,’ he said.
The province’s top official encouraged the young champion to continue his efforts and remain a role model for young people. He also reaffirmed his support and encouragement for upcoming international competitions.
