Ouagadougou: The Minister of Secondary Education and Vocational and Technical Training, Professor Moumouni Zoungrana, announced on Friday that the success rate for the Brevet d’©tudes du premier cycle (BEPC), 2026 session, has reached 54.06%, marking the best result recorded in this exam over the past fifty years.
According to Burkina Information Agency, of the 218,049 candidates who participated in the BEPC, session 2026, 54.06% were declared successful, representing a 5% increase compared to the previous session. This achievement is the highest recorded in this examination in half a century.
Professor Zoungrana detailed that the examinations for technical and vocational education and training (TVET), including the BEP and CAP, demonstrated an overall success rate of 79.03%, which is an increase of 7.03 points compared to the 2025 session. The Minister shared this information during a press briefing on Friday, June 19, 2026, discussing the results of the BEPC, BEP, and CAP, 2026 session.
According to Moumouni Zoungrana, the improvements are attributed to the peaceful conduct of the school year, reforms in the education sector, and enhancements in the Integrated System for the Management of Examinations and Competitions (SIGEC). He credited the good preparation for the exams and the commitment of teachers, educational supervisors, monitors, and examiners for the successful outcomes.
The minister also acknowledged the contributions of the Defense and Security Forces, the Volunteers for the Defense of the Homeland, social partners, and parents of students, whose involvement ensured satisfactory organizational and security conditions. Emphasizing a rigorous approach to combating fraud, he reported 115 cases of attempted or proven fraud, with the involved candidates being removed from examination lists.
The success rate for girls saw improvement, reaching 51.56%. Provinces such as Yagha, Sissili, and Karo-Peli achieved a 100% success rate. Professor Zoungrana expressed optimism about the results, seeing them as a positive sign for the RPP’s efforts to empower Burkinab¨ women.
He concluded by announcing that the written baccalaureate exams are scheduled to begin on June 23, 2026, with 105,984 candidates expected to participate nationwide.
