Bankui: Subscribers to the Agency for the Promotion of Community Entrepreneurship (APEC) in the Bankui region held their regional general assembly in D©dougou. The meeting focused on electing their representative and discussing governance, transparency, and the development prospects for community-based businesses. Following the vote, Bienvenu Demb©l© was elected APEC’s regional representative for the Bankui region.
According to Burkina Information Agency, the meeting brought together subscribers, APEC officials, and several guests to discuss issues related to the functioning of the structure and the participation of the population in the management of community enterprises. The discussions focused primarily on the need to strengthen subscriber information in order to promote a better understanding of the objectives pursued by the subscriptions and the management mechanisms put in place.
Participants stressed the importance of regular and accessible communication to dispel misunderstandings, strengthen member confidence, and improve the accountability of governing bodies. According to the Director General of APEC, Karim Traor©, this general assembly constitutes an important step in the process of consolidating participatory governance advocated by the cooperative society. It also aims to enable subscribers to better monitor the progress of activities and to contribute more to decision-making.
The governor of the Bankui region, Babo Pierre Bassinga, stressed that holding this general assembly of the cooperative society with the board of directors for the promotion of community entrepreneurship comes through the election of the principal delegate and the alternate already clearing up areas of uncertainty and ambiguity. “These elections provide concrete proof that this is a public development policy that is part of the framework for youth employability,” he said.
For him, it is also an exercise in manual intelligence so that girls and sons, rather than remaining in theoretical studies which ultimately yield nothing, can use their ten fingers to make things that will be useful, earn them money and be useful to society. At the end of the vote, the subscribers chose Bienvenu Demb©l© to represent them within the bodies of APEC Bankui and Souleymane Bouda as alternate.
The APEC regional representative for the Bankui region, Bienvenu Demb©l©, thanked the subscribers for the trust placed in him and pledged to serve as an interface between the members and the governing bodies of APEC. He announced that he will focus on close communication, the regular dissemination of reliable information, and the promotion of good governance within community enterprises.
Mr. Demb©l© urged the population to remain mobilized and to intensify awareness-raising efforts to increase membership. He indicated that this collective commitment should allow the region to improve its positioning, currently occupying 9th place out of the 13 former regions of the country. Through this general assembly and the establishment of its regional representatives, APEC Bankui intends to strengthen its governance mechanisms and consolidate the participation of the population in the promotion of endogenous economic development.
