Kenedougou: Tayourou Traore, First Vice-President of the Special Delegation of the Koloko Municipality, presided over the activities of the 8th National Tree Day this Saturday. The ceremony included the planting of 143 saplings at the Koloko Departmental High School.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the plants, including mahogany, teak, palm, baobab, and false kapok trees, were planted thanks to the mobilization of the population, technical services, and the financial support of the NGO SOS Enfants de Orodara, which provided 100 plants and 100 protective grids.

At the opening of the ceremony, the head of the Koloko departmental Water and Forestry service, Hamidou Sebgo, highlighted that this edition is celebrated under the theme “My concession, my tree” and the slogan “A patriotic hour to re-green Faso”. He invited the people to make planting and maintaining trees a civic act in service of environmental protection.

After a practical planting demonstration carried out by Water and Forestry agent Hiler Sanou, the coordinator of operations for SOS Children of Orodara, Babou Nagalo, praised the mobilization of the participants and urged them to continue reforestation actions in their concessions.

Vice-President Tayourou Traore congratulated all the actors for their commitment and invited them to “plant usefully” while ensuring the protection and maintenance of the planted seedlings.
