Ouagadougou: As part of efforts to strengthen social cohesion and ties between the security forces and the population, the Tapoa National Police played a football match on Saturday, July 18, 2026, on the field of the Untaani High School in Diapaga, against the Diapaga Health District's health personnel team. The match, held under the theme "Sport, Social Cohesion, and Solidarity for a Resilient Tapoa," ended with a score of three (3) goals to 0 in favor of the police.
According to Burkina Information Agency, the presiding officer of the ceremony, Yambi Bamogo, president of the special delegation of Diapaga, emphasized the importance of strengthening trust between the security forces and the population, highlighting its essential role in national renewal. He noted that both police and healthcare workers are dedicated to saving lives and fighting a common battle.
Commissioner Jacob Oudraogo, representing the provincial police director, stated that beyond the sport, the objective was to promote living together, solidarity, and collaboration between security forces and health actors, which are the first links in response and resilience in the province.
The event saw a spirited turnout from the population, who came in a spirit of fervor and discipline to support the two teams. Both teams bypassed the observation round and plunged directly into action. As the match progressed, they traded blows, and at halftime, referee Youmanli Couldiati sent both teams into the break tied.
In the second half, the police team demonstrated greater willingness and realism, creating opportunities which they converted. Bayagou Bado scored in the 20th minute, followed by Raymond Kabor's decisive goal in the 22nd minute. Dominique Kouraogo sealed the match with a powerful 25-meter shot in the 25th minute, leaving the score at 3-0.
Dr. Bazi, representing the chief medical officer of the Diapaga health district, expressed the spirit of unity by stating, "today, we are playing with the police for a united Tapoa. Dear brothers in arms of health, dear colleagues of the police, today we are not adversaries, we are one team: the Tapoa team. May cohesion triumph."
The health team has already set their sights on a rematch against the police team in the coming days. The meeting concluded in an atmosphere of conviviality, fraternity, respect, and friendship.
