Ouagadougou: The special delegation of the municipality of Titao organized a day of accountability this Thursday, July 23, 2026, presenting a comprehensive report on its management from 2023 to 2025 to the local population. The event also served as a platform to collect concerns and recommendations from residents to enhance local governance.
According to Burkina Information Agency, the President of the special delegation (PDS) of the municipality of Titao, Sidiki Ganamé, emphasized that the initiative aligns with the General Code of Territorial Authorities’ requirements for local authorities to report management activities to citizens. Ganamé highlighted that this exercise is crucial for ensuring transparency, promoting good governance, and encouraging citizen participation.
“This activity aims to report on the management of the municipality and to gather the concerns of the residents in order to improve our local governance,” stated Sidiki Ganamé. During his presentation, he reviewed significant achievemen
ts in various sectors. In education, the municipality has supported school canteens, distributed school supplies, constructed new classrooms, and provided desks, benches, and solar lamps for students. Additionally, they enhanced the capacities of the Permanent Non-Formal Education Centre (CPNFE) and installed solar platforms in several schools.
In terms of healthcare, the municipality established a new Health and Social Promotion Centre (CSPS) in sector 3, equipped health facilities with solar platforms, acquired medical-technical equipment and gas cylinders, and constructed two waiting areas at the municipal CSPS. On the social and humanitarian front, essential household items, gas cylinders, and food supplies were distributed to vulnerable households and Volunteers for the Defence of the Homeland (VDP).
To bolster the local economy, the municipality provided market gardening kits to producers and trained women in income-generating trades such as hairdressing, weaving, and soap making, equipping them with
necessary installation kits. Additionally, ten street shops were constructed to stimulate economic activity.
For youth support, the municipality acquired computer equipment for the future Centre for Reading and Promotion of Cultural Activities (CELPAC), built a listening and dialogue centre, and conducted high-intensity labour (HIMO) work for young people. Participants in the meeting expressed concerns and recommendations to improve municipal actions’ implementation. A committee will monitor these recommendations in line with the accountability day’s objectives.
According to the organizers, the event aims to strengthen dialogue between municipal authorities and citizens, promote transparency in managing local affairs, and encourage greater citizen involvement in developing the municipality of Titao.
