Abuja: The special municipal delegation of Thion presented its management report on Saturday during an accountability day held in the Bogandtown hall meeting room. Chaired by the president of the special delegation, Comrade Ali Gond©, and moderated by the Secretary General of the Gnagna province, Mendien dit Moussa Soma, the meeting allowed municipal authorities to outline the achievements recorded between 2024 and 2025, the challenges related to the security situation, and the outlook for 2026, while also gathering feedback from citizens.
According to Burkina Information Agency, the president of the special municipal delegation of Thion, Comrade Ali Gond©, presented an overview of the management of the municipality, in an exercise of transparency enshrined in the General Code of Territorial Authorities. Despite the deteriorating security situation which led to the relocation of municipal services to Bogand©, the municipality continued its administrative operations and held its statutory sessions regularly. Between 2024 and 2025, four ordinary sessions were organized and eighteen resolutions adopted to ensure the continuity of local governance.
The head of the special delegation also highlighted the achievements in mobilizing local resources. While the collection rate was only 24.64% in 2024 due to insecurity, the municipality reached a 127% collection rate in 2025, thanks in particular to capacity building for those responsible for collection.
Regarding investments, Comrade Ali Gond© highlighted that more than 41 million CFA francs have been allocated to the health sector, including the construction of a hangar at the Thion CSPS, the solar installation at the Lelcom maternity ward, the rehabilitation of a dispensary, and the construction of housing for a nurse.
The education sector has benefited from more than 19 million CFA francs allocated to school supplies, canteens, school exams, and support for education promotion associations, despite the closure of schools in the municipality due to insecurity.
In the area of water, hygiene, and sanitation, the municipality has carried out two boreholes for the benefit of internally displaced persons settled in Bogand©, rehabilitated a simplified drinking water supply, and carried out an extension of the water network at the CSPS in Thion.
Moderating the discussions, the Secretary General of the Gnagna province, Mendien dit Moussa Soma, invited the participants to make this day a true framework for dialogue between the municipal authorities and the citizens, in order to strengthen local governance and improve the management of public affairs. The discussions allowed participants to express concerns and suggestions relating in particular to security, the gradual return of services to the municipality, the mobilization of local resources, and the improvement of basic social services.
In conclusion, the head of the special delegation acknowledged that the municipality continues to face numerous challenges, including the relocation of the town hall, limited resources, a lack of partners, and the destruction of some infrastructure. He nevertheless assured that actions are planned for 2026, including the rehabilitation of the maternity ward in Thion, the construction of temporary classrooms for displaced students, the rehabilitation of a borehole, and the renewal of the Municipal Development Plan.
