Kombissiri: Imams and preachers in the commune of Kombissiri are undergoing training to promote the values of peace and social cohesion as part of CERFI's Djama Bog nr project. This initiative aims to address the ongoing security crisis in Burkina Faso, which has been affecting social harmony and mutual respect among the country's diverse communities.

According to Burkina Information Agency, CERFI, the Center for Islamic Studies, Research and Training, has committed to strengthening community resilience by promoting peace, social cohesion, and human rights. The Djama Bog nr project includes a two-day training session for imams and preachers in Kombissiri to exchange ideas on these themes.

Dr. Kadr Sawadogo, 1st Vice-President of CERFI and project coordinator, explained that the training will focus on equipping religious leaders with knowledge on social cohesion, peace culture, and combating extremism and hate speech, drawing on Islamic teachings. He emphasized that the challenges faced by Burkina Faso can be overcome by adhering to traditional and religious values.

The opening ceremony was presided over by Tn Justine Kientega/Ilboudo, the High Commissioner of the province of Baz¨ga, who praised CERFI's initiative and the ongoing efforts of religious leaders to promote peace. She urged participants to embrace the training themes to effectively contribute to a peaceful and secure Burkina Faso.

Dr. Sawadogo noted that the project, in collaboration with the Union of Religious and Customary Leaders of Burkina Faso for the Promotion of Health and Development (URCB/SD), will span 32 months, impacting 20 municipalities across 12 regions. The project employs an inclusive and participatory approach, engaging all Islamic factions in the targeted areas.
