Ouagadougou: The Basic Education District (CEB) of Niaogho is conducting a training workshop for 18 participants, including 10 men and 8 women, at the Tengsoba B public primary school from September 1 to 14, 2026. The participants, consisting of CP1 teachers and school directors, are being trained to enhance their skills in the transcription and teaching of disciplines related to the Reference Framework for bi-plurilingual education in Burkina Faso.According to Burkina Information Agency, the workshop aims to strengthen practical skills among educational stakeholders to support the initial phase of school bilingualism. The trainer, Mr. Ousmane Compaoré, highlighted that the initiative promotes local cultural values and enables participants to understand orthographic writing rules of the Basa language, reference documents, and teaching methods. Participants are examining lesson plans to prepare for their classroom application.Participants acknowledged the educational reform's relevance but expressed concer ns about implementation challenges. They cited a lack of institutional support, insufficient teaching materials and textbooks in the Bisa language, and a shortage of qualified teachers proficient in the language as significant hurdles.In response to these challenges, participants recommended that educational authorities provide schools with necessary teaching resources and assign capable teachers to support bilingual and multilingual education in the district.
