Ouagadougou: The Burkina Faso Armed Forces Textile Industrial Complex (TEXFORCES-BF), inaugurated recently by the President of Faso, Captain Ibrahim Traor, stands out in the sub-region due to its size, production capacity, modernity, and structure.

According to Burkina Information Agency, President Ibrahim Traor emphasized the uniqueness of TEXFORCES-BF during a discussion with students at Nazi Boni University. The President highlighted that the complex was entirely financed by the state at a cost of 17 billion CFA francs, marking a pioneering achievement in Africa.

The President elaborated that unlike other textile industries in Africa, which are often foreign-owned, TEXFORCES-BF is state-owned and relies entirely on local resources. The process begins with Burkinabe cotton, cultivated by local farmers, which is then transformed into yarn and eventually into fabric, culminating in the production of specific garments.

Comrade Captain Ibrahim Traor described the complex as a "large, bold, and futuristic" initiative, reflecting the Burkinab¨ people's aspiration for independence and sovereignty. He reiterated the country's commitment to self-reliance and action beyond rhetoric.

The inauguration of TEXFORCES-BF on September 9, 2026, in L´g´fourousso, near Bobo-Dioulasso, was followed by the opening of a new lecture hall complex at Nazi Boni University as part of the Presidential Initiative for Quality Education for All (IPEQ) on September 11, 2026.
