52nd RIC Triumphs in 7th Edition of Top Vacances Loisirs Football Tournament

Sourou: The 52nd Commando Infantry Regiment (RIC) of Tougan clinched victory in the 7th edition of the Top Vacances Loisirs maracana tournament, held on Saturday, September 12, 2026. The team defeated Zouri-Bia in a penalty shootout (1-0) following a goalless draw at the end of regulation time.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the final took place at the General Sangoul-Lamizana stadium in Tougan, attracting administrative authorities, combat forces, sponsors' representatives, organizers, and a large crowd of supporters for both teams. The match was fiercely contested, but neither side could score during regulation play, necessitating a penalty shootout to determine the winner.

The 52nd RIC demonstrated superior skill in the penalties, securing a narrow 1-0 victory to claim the trophy for this edition. Tournament promoter Abdoulaye Ciss highlighted that Top Vacances Loisirs serves as more than just a sporting event but as a means to foster social cohesion and community spirit among young people. He emphasized that sports promote discipline, brotherhood, and acceptance of both victory and defeat.

Ciss extended his gratitude to the Defense and Security Forces (FDS), the Volunteers for the Defense of the Homeland (VDP), authorities, sponsors, and everyone who contributed to the event's success.
