Ouagadougou: The President of the Transition of Mali, General Assimi Gota, received the Algerian Prime Minister, Sifi Ghrieb, in Bamako on Monday, September 14, 2026, during a working visit to Mali. Discussions focused on strengthening bilateral cooperation and regional security challenges.

According to Burkina Information Agency, Prime Minister Sifi Ghrieb conveyed to the Malian head of state the fraternal greetings of Algerian President Abdelmadjid Tebboune and his commitment to strengthening the bonds of fraternity and good neighborliness between the two countries. In return, Army General Assimi Gota instructed him to convey his sincere greetings to President Tebboune.

Both parties reaffirmed their commitment to continue joint efforts to strengthen their cooperative relations. The Algerian Prime Minister stressed that his visit to Bamako, a few days after that of the Malian Prime Minister, Major General Abdoulaye Maga, to Algeria, reflects the political will of the two heads of state to consolidate bilateral solidarity and cooperation.

Sifi Ghrieb also announced the active preparation, with the Malian Prime Minister, for the upcoming visit of President Assimi Gota to Algeria, at the invitation of his counterpart Abdelmadjid Tebboune. On the security front, both sides reaffirmed the importance of a comprehensive and united approach, based on the individual capabilities of the States in the region, to promote peace, security and development.

The Algerian Prime Minister, accompanied by a large delegation, expressed his gratitude to the Malian authorities for the hospitality extended since his arrival in Bamako.
