Tenkodogo:The new headquarters of the Regional Directorate of the National Police (DRPN) of Nakamb was officially inaugurated on Monday by the Minister of Security, Mahamadou Sana. The ceremony took place in Tenkodogo, with the governor of the region, Yiy Abraham Somdo, and the director general of the National Police, Thierry Dofizouho Tuina, also in attendance.
According to Burkina Information Agency, the project cost over 813 million FCFA and was entirely financed by the state budget. Situated in sector 6 of Tenkodogo, in the Goumpoughin district, the facility includes an administrative building, a police station, two holding cells, a guardhouse, a perimeter wall topped with barbed wire, and toilets.
The new headquarters will accommodate various police services, including the Boulgou Provincial Directorate of the National Police, the Regional State Security Service, the Regional Child Protection Brigade, the Interpol Regional Office, the newly created Anti-Drug Unit, Emergency Police, and the Tenkodogo Central Police Station.
Fran§ois Sawadogo, regional director of the National Police in Nakamb, stated that the project would address the shortage of premises and improve working conditions for police officers. Minister Sana emphasized that the infrastructure was funded by the Burkinabe people and aims to enhance the operational capacity of the National Police. He urged officers to show patriotism, professionalism, and to welcome the public warmly, while also maintaining the building and working to reduce crime.
The Director General of the National Police encouraged officers to exhibit rigor, integrity, and high standards of service, urging the elimination of extortion and mistreatment. The new headquarters will free up the old DRPN site, which will be used for the Regional Judicial Police Service, the Regional Traffic and Road Safety Service, and a new police station for sector 2 of Tenkodogo.
Despite the new facility, the regional director pointed out ongoing infrastructure needs, including constructing a camp for the Group of Republican Security Companies and a headquarters for the Provincial Directorate of the National Police of Koulplogo, along with district police stations in Garango, Bittou, and Pouytenga.
The inauguration ceremony concluded with a ribbon-cutting and the unveiling of the inaugural plaque, officially opening the new DRPN of Nakamb.
