Cairo: Burkina Faso's Minister of Foreign Affairs, Comrade Karamoko Jean Marie Traor, reassured Burkinabe citizens living in Egypt and several other countries under Cairo's diplomatic jurisdiction on Monday regarding the evolving security situation and development in Burkina Faso. He also urged them to further support the reforms undertaken by the authorities for the reconstruction and rebuilding of the country.
According to Burkina Information Agency, while in Cairo on a friendly working visit, the Burkinabe foreign minister met with members of the Burkinabe community living in Egypt on August 31, 2026. Burkinabe nationals from Lebanon, Jordan, Sudan, and Palestine, under the diplomatic jurisdiction of Cairo, also participated in the discussions via videoconference.
During the meeting, the minister shared news from the country with his compatriots, particularly regarding the evolution of the security situation and the performance recorded in the field of development. "I am here to reassure you that things are progressing on all fronts," said Karamoko Jean Marie Traor, stressing that the country is being secured thanks to the commitment of the Defense and Security Forces.
According to him, the return of internally displaced persons to their places of origin is a sign of a positive development in the situation. In terms of development, he indicated that several actions are being undertaken through major Presidential Initiatives. The minister also welcomed the mobilization of Burkinabe people, particularly those in the diaspora, in support of the efforts undertaken in the country.
However, he called on his compatriots to be vigilant against erroneous information being disseminated about the national situation, believing that this aims to discredit the efforts of the authorities and the reconstruction dynamics of Burkina Faso. The Burkinabe foreign minister invited nationals living abroad to refer to their embassy for reliable information regarding the national situation.
Comrade Karamoko Jean Marie Traor also recalled the reforms undertaken by the President of Faso, particularly the process of restoring order and discipline, which he presented as necessary for the reform of Burkinabe society and the rebuilding of the nation. The meeting allowed members of the diaspora to submit several concerns.
These included difficulties related to obtaining residence permits, procedures for authenticating academic documents of students from the Franco-Arab curriculum, and clarification of reforms concerning academic and Islamic studies outside the country. In a spirit of dialogue, the minister provided answers and insights on the various procedures and reforms undertaken by the authorities.
Reaffirming the embassy's willingness to support compatriots in their various endeavors, Minister Karamoko Jean Marie Traor urged them to remobilize further around the actions and reforms underway in Burkina Faso. The minister advised Burkinabe living in Egypt and other countries under Cairo's diplomatic jurisdiction to respect the laws and regulations of their host countries.
He encouraged them to work towards strengthening cohesion, their integration, and the bonds of friendship and cooperation between Burkina Faso and the Arab Republic of Egypt. At the end of the meeting, the Burkinabe in Egypt expressed their satisfaction and reaffirmed their attachment to the motherland. They also expressed their pride in representing Burkina Faso abroad, in view of, according to them, the country's influence, driven by the vision and revolutionary actions of the highest authorities.
