Pouytenga:Kourittenga Kagamb¨ga FC has been crowned champion of the 22nd edition of the Maracana Jeunesse Unie Tournament held in Pouytenga, following a tense penalty shootout victory over Nosraaga FC. The tournament concluded at the Naaba Bougoum stadium under the auspices of the Minister of Security, Mahamadou Sana.
According to Burkina Information Agency, the final match was contested in two 20-minute halves, ending in a goalless draw, which led to a decisive penalty shootout. Kagamb¨ga FC emerged victorious, scoring two goals while Nosraaga FC failed to convert any.
Both teams showcased impressive ball-handling skills throughout the match, but neither could break the deadlock during regulation time. Kagamb¨ga FC's triumph earned them a prize package including 1,000,000 CFA francs, sports equipment, and the tournament trophy. Nosraaga FC, as runners-up, received 500,000 CFA francs and similar sports items.
Gourm Pont FC secured third place, receiving 300,000 CFA francs, while FC Sourgou finished fourth, taking home 200,000 CFA francs. The tournament featured 33 teams from Pouytenga and nearby areas, with 61 matches played without any forfeits.
Ali Diabo, captain of Kagamb¨ga FC, expressed pride in his team's performance, attributing their success to teamwork and camaraderie. Moumouni Ou©draogo, the chairman of the organizing committee, emphasized the tournament's aim to foster unity and fair play among the youth.
Minister Mahamadou Sana highlighted the event's role in promoting solidarity and social cohesion, aligning with the national vision of unity as advocated by President Ibrahim Traor©. The ceremony concluded with the awarding of prizes to the distinguished participants.
