Zorgho:Ganzourgou: The health sector in the province of Ganzourgou has made significant progress in the last four years under the Popular Progressive Revolution (RPP), focusing largely on enhancements in equipment and infrastructure, according to Dr. Delphin Kabor, chief medical officer of the Zorgho health district.
According to Burkina Information Agency, the advancements include the provision of essential medical and technical equipment to healthcare facilities, such as 100 beds, 100 mattresses, delivery tables, and step stools.
Further developments in the Zorgho health district include the construction of a Communal Medical Centre (CMC) in the commune of Mogtdo, part of the Presidential Initiative for Health (IPS). In Zam, a new Medical Center (MC) has been completed and is now operational.
The district also acquired a 4x4 vehicle for supervisory duties, and the Zorgho Medical Center with Surgical Unit (MSU) received a fully equipped ambulance in December 2024.
Infrastructure projects continue with the building and equipping of the Health and Social Promotion Centre (CSPS) in sector 6 of Zorgho, supported by the Programme for Resilience, Local Governance and Services (PRE-GOLS). Additionally, construction of a maternity ward at the Zorgho Medical Center is underway.
In terms of service delivery, regular reimbursements for free healthcare services are being maintained. Dr. Delphin Kabor expressed satisfaction with these achievements and emphasized the need for further efforts to increase the number of healthcare staff in the province's health facilities.
