Toma:The High Commissioner of Nayala, Honore Frederic Pare, has urged those involved in the education sector to focus on developing responsible and patriotic citizens. This call was made during the launch of the second phase of the third edition of the National Days of Patriotic Engagement and Citizen Participation (JEPPC) at Bala Mossi public primary school in Toma, marking the start of the 2026-2027 school year.
According to Burkina Information Agency, the event was attended by various provincial officials, educational stakeholders, parents, and students. The ceremony featured the raising of the national flag while the national anthem was sung in Moore by the learners, impressing the assembled authorities. The event included two speeches, one of which was the official launch speech for the JEPPC delivered by the High Commissioner, who conveyed a message from the President of Faso.
The High Commissioner extended good wishes for the upcoming school year and urged educational stakeholders to make schools a platform for nurturing responsible and patriotic citizens, beyond conventional academic learning.
Thomas Garane, the provincial director of preschool, primary, and non-formal education, provided a preliminary evaluation of the school year's commencement and last year's results. He noted that improving security has facilitated the reopening of schools in areas secured by the forces, with 148 out of 164 primary schools resuming for the 2026-2027 school year, representing 90.24% of the total.
Thanks to the dedication of stakeholders, the Primary School Certificate (CEP) success rate reached 97.67%, with all students advancing to the sixth grade. The JEPPC aims to further position schools as hubs for instilling patriotism, civic-mindedness, and active citizen participation in Nayala's development.
