Dialgaye:The population of the Dialgaye commune has actively mobilized to combat mosquito breeding sites, a significant factor in the spread of malaria. This effort was part of the third National Day of Vector Control (JN-LAV), initiated by Nogwaya Joseph Sawadogo, President of the special delegation of Dialgaye, on October 3, 2026.
According to Burkina Information Agency, the event, scheduled from October 3 to 4, aimed to clean up the living environment and reduce mosquito breeding grounds. It saw the participation of the local population, key stakeholders, resource persons, and decentralized state services in various sanitation activities.
Nogwaya Joseph Sawadogo noted that this initiative highlighted the commitment of local actors to public health. He emphasized that cleaning up concessions, public places, schools, and gathering spaces is crucial for preventing diseases related to unsanitary conditions.
Dr. Kabre, the chief physician of the Dialgaye medical center, stressed that vector control depends heavily on awareness, identifying, and destroying larval breeding sites. He urged the community to focus on areas that promote mosquito proliferation, both inside and around homes.
Several measures against malaria have been implemented, including distributing mosquito nets, providing care for vulnerable individuals, and offering free care for pregnant women and children under five.
Comrade Oubda Ne Tougma Marie added that the event strengthens actions against larval breeding sites and diseases linked to unsanitary conditions. She encouraged everyone to make hygiene a daily practice, emphasizing the importance of maintaining the environment and regularly destroying breeding grounds for larvae.
The municipal authorities and the community plan to sustain these efforts by eliminating stagnant water and mosquito breeding sites, affirming that malaria prevention is a collective responsibility requiring everyone's commitment.
