Gaoua:The governor of the Djôrô region, Siaka Barro, initiated the laying of paving stones in Gaoua on Friday. This project is part of the Faso Mêbo initiative, aligning with the second phase of the National Days of Patriotic Commitment and Citizen Participation.
According to Burkina Information Agency, the paving operation follows contributions collected from the population since October 2025, with the paving stones being manufactured starting in February 2026.
Governor Barro, with administrative and customary authorities, emphasized the significance of the initiative as a reflection of the people's dedication to local development. He praised the contributors for their efforts and encouraged ongoing solidarity and participation for the advancement of the Djôrô region and Burkina Faso.
Siaka Ouattara, chairman of the donation reception committee, highlighted the beginning of contributions on October 2, 2025. The authorization to create the paving stones was granted on February 21, 2026, which allowed the committee to accumulate a sufficient stock over seven months to commence the paving.
The initial phase of the project targets the Gaoua-Batie national road, particularly the median strip at the Nani Palais monument. Alongside paving, the project includes landscaping with flower planting to further beautify the city of Gaoua.
