Fada N'Gourma:The governor of the Goulmou region, Ram Joseph Kafando, supervised the 3rd edition of the National Days of Vector Control on October 3, 2026, focusing on cleaning gutters, weeding, and eliminating larval habitats.
According to Burkina Information Agency, the event saw the governor, alongside his collaborators and technical health services, actively participating in sanitation operations across various sectors of Fada N'Gourma. The efforts included clearing blocked gutters, removing stagnant water, and cleaning unsanitary areas.
Regional authorities, with the support of health services, offered guidance to residents on maintaining a clean environment and eliminating mosquito breeding grounds. The initiative gathered administrative, provincial, and municipal authorities, as well as local populations from the Goulmou, Sirba, and Tapoa regions.
In particular, operations in Fada N'Gourma targeted the gutters of sector 7, stretching from the Bayama station to the dam, and areas around the Teresa pharmacy, the SIM church, the small market of sector 7, and the perimeter behind the CAMEG. These efforts aim to reduce mosquito breeding grounds, which are vectors for diseases like malaria, dengue fever, and yellow fever.
Health officials encouraged the public to make vector control a daily practice by maintaining clean homes, using insecticide-treated mosquito nets, and ensuring children receive malaria chemoprevention. They also recommended installing protective grilles on doors and windows to aid in the elimination of malaria in Burkina Faso by 2030.
