Dori:The governor of the Liptako and Soum regions, Abdoul Karim Zongo, has called on residents to make every purchase an act of sovereignty by choosing products made in Burkina Faso. This appeal was made during the launch of the second phase of the third edition of the National Days of Patriotic Engagement and Citizen Participation (JEPPC) in Dori.
According to Burkina Information Agency, the event, scheduled from October 2 to 16, 2026, carries the theme "Let's produce and consume Burkinabe" with the slogan "All for Made in Burkina: let's make every purchase an act of sovereignty." Governor Zongo conveyed the official message from President Ibrahim Traore, emphasizing the importance of production, processing, and consumption as interconnected elements necessary to reduce the country's dependence on foreign goods.
The president's message highlighted the role of citizens in demonstrating patriotism through economic choices, encouraging the purchase of locally made clothing, food, and handcrafted products to bolster the national economy. Governor Zongo noted that building a proud and sovereign nation begins with supporting local fields, workshops, shops, and tables.
The presidential message also addressed the need to combat practices hindering the "Made in Burkina" initiative, such as fraud, smuggling, and the "silent boycott" of national products. Citizens are urged to take individual and collective responsibility to foster an economy rooted in national potential.
Furthermore, the message extended beyond the national context, advocating for the "African market to become the market of Africans," with the aim of increasing the presence of Burkinabe products across the continent and enhancing African economic autonomy.
Through this phase of JEPPC, Burkina Faso aims to solidify the link between patriotism and economic behavior, encouraging daily actions that support national sovereignty by producing, processing, and consuming local products.
