Banfora:Officials in Banfora have expressed their appreciation for the contributions of volunteers from the Public Interest Group - National Volunteer Program of Burkina Faso (GIP-PNVB) to the operations of various public and semi-public institutions.
According to Burkina Information Agency, this appreciation was voiced during a tour of several facilities that host these volunteers, including the Regional Hospital Center, the Como Agropole, and services involved in Universal Health Insurance registration. The tour coincided with the official launch of initiatives aimed at promoting development through mobilizing 10,000 young volunteers in 13 regions and 37 provinces of Burkina Faso.
Aly Traor, head of the regional branch of the Tannounyan volunteer program, explained that volunteers are deployed to strengthen human resource capacities while providing young people and women the chance to gain professional experience. In Banfora, more than a hundred volunteers are engaged in different sectors, contributing to the regional police headquarters, the Como Agropole, the National Universal Health Insurance Fund, the Burkina Faso Post Office, and the Banfora Regional Hospital.
Dr. Sika Sombi, interim director general at the Banfora Regional Hospital, acknowledged the benefit of 20 volunteers, who are helping alleviate staff shortages. The presence of these volunteers enables more efficient operations within the hospital. Similarly, Karim Dao, director of the Como Agropole, praised the seven volunteers for their timely support during peak agricultural activities, highlighting their professionalism and dedication.
At the CNAMU, Sami Etienne Kam noted that the volunteers have significantly contributed to registration and affiliation efforts, achieving a high registration rate among public sector employees. Volunteers like Souleymane Traor and Roger Traor have expressed satisfaction with their roles, while hospital hygiene technician Ida Christelle Hien emphasized the professional and social skills gained through volunteering.
Officials and volunteers encourage young people to seize the opportunities offered by such programs to gain experience and support the development of Burkina Faso.
