Ouagadougou:Filmmaker Boubie Richard Tiene presented his documentary film "Mandatory Patriotic Immersion A Generation's Oath" in Ouagadougou, attended by the Minister of War and Patriotic Defense. The 70-minute documentary captures key moments of civic and physical training experienced by young high school graduates in patriotic immersion programs.
According to Burkina Information Agency, the documentary aims to dispel prejudices about patriotic immersion spread on social media by portraying its reality without extrapolation. Tiene explained that the film seeks to reassure parents that these programs are educational rather than punitive.
The documentary was filmed at various immersion sites across Burkina Faso, including Dori, Bobo-Dioulasso, and Tenkodogo. Tiene emphasized the importance of encouraging parental support for these programs, which he described as complementary to family education.
Major General Celestin Simpore, representing Prime Minister Rimtalba Jean Emmanuel Ouedraogo, praised the initiative for preserving national memory and emphasized the importance of Burkina Faso writing its own history. The documentary was lauded for fostering values such as patriotism, social cohesion, and sustainable development.
The Minister of War also underscored the importance of these values for the nation's growth and called for a collective effort in nurturing love for the country and fellow citizens.
