The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Regional Cooperation and Burkinabè Abroad, Karamoko Jean Marie Traoré was heard on the bill authorizing the ratification of the Liptako-Gourma Charter, instituting the creation of the Alliance of Sahel States (AES) and providing for the creation of an AES confederation, this Thursday in Ouagadougou, by Parliament. At the hearing before the Parliamentary Committee on Foreign Affairs, Defense and Security (CAEDS), the head of Burkinabe diplomacy returned to the reasons which prevailed for the creation of the AES and in particular the persistent insecurity in the Sahel and the absence of endogenous instruments to effectively combat terrorism in the three countries.'The enemy uses the porous borders of the three countries to its advantage and through the AES, the countries will be able to strengthen ties and commit to properly fighting terrorism and organized crime,' said Minister Traoré.Therefore, he invited the CAEDS member deputies to support the bill in front of their com rades and to support the actions of the Government and the sacrifice of the fighters for the survival of our country and those of the Sahel in general. The deputies were sensitive to the minister's arguments and showed an interest in the bill.'With the answers that the minister gave us, it's reassuring. Especially since we firmly believe in this project. Because we want to put an end to this terrorism and so that the populations who have been displaced by terrorism can return to their respective localities,' confided the president of the CAEDS, Daniel Zoungrana.'For this we can only support the government so that the Assembly gives its discharge so that ratification can quickly see the light of day and that everyone can find joy again and that the country can return to the path of development,' continued MP Zoungrana. The foreign affairs ministers of the Alliance of Sahel States are expected tomorrow Friday in Niamey to discuss the future texts of the project to create the confederation between Niger, M ali and Burkina Faso BurkinaSource: Burkina Information Agency
