Namentenga: 60 Women Equipped for Soilless Cultivation in Boulsa

Namentenga: Agricultural entrepreneur and manager of Smart Feed Industry, Jacques Simpor©, with the technical support of decentralized structures in the province of Namentenga, provided training on soilless agricultural production techniques and food hygiene to 60 young girls and women on March 17 and 18, 2025, in Boulsa.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the training aimed to turn these young individuals into agricultural entrepreneurs to ensure food self-sufficiency and promote the consumption of organic food for human health. Jacques Simpor© emphasized the necessity of enhancing the capacities of these young women in the face of limited arable land, climate change, and the risks associated with chemical fertilizers and pesticides.

Mr. Simpor©'s initiative aligns with the national policy of the government, focusing on food self-sufficiency through the production and consumption of healthy food. Participants received guidance on female entrepreneurship, integrated management of soilless crops, and health, presented by the respective technicians involved.

The trainer highlighted that the practical sessions and interactive discussions were instrumental in helping participants grasp the themes discussed. One participant, B©n©dicte Koudougou, shared that they learned to create nurseries, transplant, water, and maintain plants economically until harvest using local materials like drums, trays, and tires with minimal water and organic fertilizer. She also expressed the need for fencing to protect their farms from animals.

Jacques Simpor© assured that follow-up field trips would be conducted to address any issues faced by the learners. He expressed gratitude to ministerial departments, technical partners, the Red Cross, and the GEFED association for their contributions to the success of the training program.
