Ouagadougou: The Racine Groupe firm opened, on Friday in Ouagadougou, the 3rd edition of the International Conference on Development (CID), a meeting dedicated to the search for sustainable technological solutions to support the development of Africa and strengthen its energy sovereignty.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the conference, held under the theme "Towards energy independence for Africa: opportunities from civil nuclear, solar and storage technologies", brings together representatives of public authorities, experts, academics, and technical partners to address the challenges of the energy transition on the continent.

The Director General of Racine Group, Cheick Omar Yeye, emphasized that the CID aims to be a platform for sharing experiences, promoting African and international expertise, and formulating proposals that can inform public policies in favor of sustainable, inclusive, and sovereign development. 'Building the Africa we want requires a common vision, ongoing dialogue, and a collective ability to anticipate tomorrow's challenges. The International Development Conference is firmly part of this dynamic,' he stated.

Cheick Omar Yeye highlighted that energy issues are now a major driver of economic development, industrialization, and the competitiveness of African states. The conference therefore aims to foster exchanges on innovative technologies capable of sustainably meeting the continent's growing needs.

Representing the Minister of Energy, Mines and Quarries, Dr. Honorat Nebie, Chief of Staff, stressed the increasing energy demands of Burkina Faso due to industrialization, urbanization, modernization of the economy, and improvement of living conditions for the population. "Faced with this reality, it becomes imperative to further diversify our energy production sources in order to guarantee a sufficient, reliable, and sustainable supply," he stated.

He also noted Burkina Faso's interest in the development of civilian nuclear technologies for exclusively peaceful purposes, aiming to strengthen production capacities, secure energy supply, and consolidate sovereignty in this area.

During the workshop, participants will examine opportunities offered by civil nuclear technologies, solar energy, and storage solutions, aiming to accelerate access to sustainable energy and support the economic development of African countries.
