African Integration: Togo Abolishes Entry Visas for All African Nationals

Lome: In a statement released Monday in Lome, Togo announced the immediate elimination of entry visas for all African nationals holding a valid national passport. This measure aims to strengthen continental integration and the free movement of people.According to Burkina Information Agency, the Togolese Minister of Security and Civil Protection, Colonel Calixte Batossie Madjoulba, stated that this decision reflects "the constant desire of the highest Togolese authorities to promote African integration, to strengthen the free movement of people and goods and to foster increased cooperation between the States and peoples of the continent."Visa exemption is granted for stays not exceeding 30 days. However, travelers remain subject to applicable security, immigration, and public health controls.The Togolese authorities also specified that African nationals must make a prior declaration on the government platform voyage.gouv.tg at least 24 hours before their arrival in order to obtain a travel slip to presen t at the borders.With this decision, Togo joins Rwanda, Seychelles, Gambia, Benin, and Ghana among the African countries that have lifted the visa requirement for citizens of the continent.The Togolese authorities present this reform as a lever to strengthen the country's attractiveness and to make Togo a regional hub for services, business, and human exchange in the heart of Africa.
