Poni: The festivities for the 3rd edition of the Days of Customs and Traditions concluded this Saturday, May 16, 2026, at the Place de la Nation in Gaoua, after three days of celebration marked by artistic performances, cultural rites, and traditional gatherings.
According to Burkina Information Agency, the event was themed "Contribution of customary and traditional leadership in strengthening peace, social cohesion and endogenous development" and was held under the patronage of the Minister of Communication, Culture, Arts and Tourism. It saw participation from administrative, military, customary, and religious authorities, as well as delegations from the AES, Ivory Coast, and Ghana, led by His Majesty Jinapor II.
The representative of the Minister in charge of Culture, the Minister of Justice, Edasso Rodrigues Bayala, paid tribute to the traditional chiefs, the Defense and Security Forces (FDS), the Volunteers for the Defense of the Homeland (VDP), and the dozos for their commitment to protecting the national territory. He also welcomed the presence of religious communities and foreign delegations, particularly those from the AES region, Ivory Coast, and Ghana, highlighting the values of peace, solidarity, and hospitality among people.
The minister encouraged intercultural dialogue, the transmission of ancestral values to the youth, and respect for cultural differences. He urged all citizens to work towards a peaceful, harmonious, and culturally rich Burkina Faso.
His Majesty Bifate II, the Chief of the Gaoua canton, praised the authorities' vision and commitment to promoting social cohesion and living together in harmony. He offered prayers for peace in Burkina Faso and for the security forces and volunteers engaged in the fight against terrorism.
Organized by His Majesty Bifate II, this 3rd edition of the Days of Customs and Traditions celebrated the cultural and ancestral values of the people while strengthening the bonds of fraternity and solidarity between communities.
