Ouagadougou: Staff from the Dalo Departmental High School, in the Ziro province, on Thursday undertook a cultural immersion visit to the Royal Issouka Palace in Koudougou, led by the school's principal, Mr. SAWADOGO K. Christophe.
According to Burkina Information Agency, the visit was organized under the themes of fraternity, cultural renewal, and unity, providing participants an opportunity to explore the historical and traditional wealth of the royal court. The palace stands as a living testament to the cultural identity and ancestral values of Burkina Faso.
The visit commenced with a guided tour of the royal palace, during which delegation members explored the architectural wonders, historical symbols, and stories that form the foundation of the Issouka Royal Palace's rich history. This educational experience also facilitated an exchange of experiences between the visitors and the officials of the royal court.
A significant moment of the cultural immersion was the meeting with His Majesty Naaba Saaga I. The traditional leader warmly welcomed the delegation and shared the palace's history, offering advice centered on tolerance, patriotism, social cohesion, and religious peace.
Naaba Saaga I emphasized, "A nation that forgets its traditions walks without roots. You, educators, have the noble mission of transmitting to the youth the values of respect, unity, discipline, and love of country. May religion never be a source of division, but a bridge to brotherhood and peace."
In response, Mr. SAWADOGO K. Christophe expressed gratitude to the traditional chief and the royal court for their warm reception. He noted that the initiative aims to strengthen human connections, honor traditions, and promote social cohesion. He remarked, "Schools cannot be separated from these cultural and traditional values. Educating students also means teaching them about their roots, respecting their customs, and loving their country. This day reminds us that education and tradition must go hand in hand to build a stronger and more united Burkina Faso."
Through this cultural immersion, the Dalo Departmental High School reaffirms its dedication to promoting education rooted in traditional, civic, and patriotic values, fostering a youth that is aware of its identity and proud of its cultural heritage.
