ANPFI and Wave Burkina Collaborate to Enhance Financial Literacy in Bobo-Dioulasso

Abuja: The National Agency for the Promotion of Inclusive Finance (ANPFI), in partnership with Wave Burkina, has launched a training campaign focused on financial literacy and consumer protection in Bobo-Dioulasso. This initiative is directed at equipping the population with the necessary knowledge to utilize digital financial services in a responsible and secure manner.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the Director General of ANPFI, Wango Fid¨le Yam©ogo, emphasized during the opening ceremony that true financial inclusion is reliant on citizens' understanding of financial service mechanisms. He highlighted that without this understanding, populations remain vulnerable, whereas informed individuals, aware of their rights and capable of making informed financial decisions, form the basis of sustainable financial inclusion.

He further elaborated that financial inclusion extends beyond merely opening accounts or democratizing digital payments. It encompasses training individuals to manage resources effectively, minimize digital transaction risks, and comprehend their rights. The partnership between ANPFI and Wave Burkina, initiated in 2025, has already facilitated the training of numerous individuals across Burkina Faso. This year, they plan to extend their awareness activities to Ouagadougou, Bobo-Dioulasso, Kaya, and Tenkodogo.

Steve Sawadogo, representing the Managing Director of Wave Burkina, expressed appreciation for the collaboration with ANPFI and reiterated Wave's commitment to accessible, transparent, and secure finance. He noted the transformative impact of digital finance on everyday transactions for merchants, farmers, and entrepreneurs, stressing the importance of user understanding for security and protection against fraud and scams.

Philippe Palenfo, ANPFI's technical support officer, outlined the 72-hour training session's agenda, which includes modules on financial education, budget management, savings, credit, and consumer protection. The campaign intends to foster better comprehension of digital financial services and enhance user security.

ANPFI aims to empower participants not only with new skills but also as community ambassadors to advocate for sound financial management and secure digital transactions. This initiative strives to bolster financial inclusion in Burkina Faso and reduce the vulnerabilities associated with digital financial service adoption.
