Approximately 200 Seedlings Planted in Kourinion to Mark National Tree Day

K©n©dougou: The rural commune of Kourinion celebrated, belatedly, the National Tree Day, on Friday, June 26, 2026, within the grounds of the Kourinion Departmental High School, under the chairmanship of the second president of the Special Delegation, Lassina Sanogo.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the ceremony mobilized traditional and religious authorities, decentralized technical services of the State, Volunteers for the Defense of the Homeland (VDP), agricultural VDPs, young people as well as many residents who came to show their support for this environmental preservation initiative.

Two main speeches punctuated the ceremony. On behalf of the village chief, the president of the Village Development Council (CVD), Bema Traor©, welcomed the participants while commending the holding of this reforestation activity in the commune.

Speaking next on behalf of the president, the second vice-president of the Special Delegation, Lassina Sanogo, reiterated the importance of National Tree Day and its role in combating environmental degradation. He also emphasized that this initiative is part of the ongoing efforts undertaken by national authorities to restore vegetation cover.

Before the planting operations began, the head of the environmental department, Aim© Sawadogo, conducted a practical demonstration of the appropriate planting and care techniques to optimize the survival rate of the seedlings. In total, approximately 200 seedlings of various species were planted by the participants at the designated site.
