Johannesburg: The authorities of Zabr, led by the Comrade Prefect, President of the Special Delegation (PDS), Alain Boubi Bassono, visited on Friday the infant abandoned at the entrance of an inn last week, now placed in a foster family.
According to Burkina Information Agency, Comrade PDS Alain Boubi Bassono, who was absent from Zabr at the time of the discovery of the infant, went to the host family upon his return to the commune. He was accompanied by members of the special delegation, technical service managers, and representatives of the customary authorities during the visit. The purpose of this visit was to inquire about the health of the infant, now named Gloria Gouba, and to support the family that is hosting her.
"We came to encourage you, congratulate you and see how the child is doing," stated the PDS. He condemned the abandonment of newborns as an act contrary to human values and urged society to prevent such occurrences. Bassono commended the efforts of the various actors involved in the care of the child, including the members of the special delegation, the technical services, the representative of His Majesty Naaba Kougri, chief of the canton of Zabr, and the media for raising awareness about the situation.
The Comrade PDS also called on the community to consider the causes of such acts and the importance of fostering solidarity and vigilance within society. "There are things that people are not telling us. We really need to wake up. Otherwise, if this continues, we are going to come across more cases," he remarked.
Recognizing the commitment of the foster family, who are hosting their third abandoned baby in less than three years, the PDS instructed the secretary general of the town hall to prepare a certificate of recognition for them. Meanwhile, the brigade commander of the gendarmerie in Zabr, Djibril Doulkom, appealed to the population to cooperate with the security forces in combating the issue. He urged people to provide information, even if it involves their own relatives, to prevent such situations from recurring.
Representing His Majesty Naaba Kougri, chief of the canton of Zabr, Harouna Gouba expressed regret to the infant for the conditions she encountered upon being received by society. Regarding potential adoption, Kanfieni Tankoano, head of the social action service, explained that the process involves coordination between the ministry in charge of social action and the justice system.
At the conclusion of the visit, authorities confirmed that Gloria Gouba was in good health. The infant, who was contentedly sucking her fingers, observed as the delegation departed from her foster family. This visit followed a week after the discovery of the infant abandoned at the entrance of an inn.
