The Regional Judicial Police Service (SRPJ) of Hauts-Bassins arrested on Wednesday April 3, 2024 in Bobo-Dioulasso, a trader and his acolytes who mixed finely crushed granite and quartz with sorghum in 100kg bags to resell them in the market place .The Hauts-Bassins Regional Judicial Police Service (SRPJ), located in Lafiabougou, arrested a cereal trader and his acolytes in sector 12 (Nieneta) of Bobo-Dioulasso following a denunciation anonymous. These individuals crushed granite and quartz into small grains so that their mixture with cereals was difficult to detect. In a courtyard in the Nieneta district, this network mixed the crushed stones with the sorghum. The mixture was then packaged in 100 kg bags. The brains of the operation, NZ, was responsible for weighing the said bags and ensuring that they had a mass of 100 kilograms before packaging. These bags were placed on the market and intended for consumption, thus exposing consumers to all the health risks that this entails. However, it was around fo rty bags of sorghum mixed with stones that the SRPJ was able to seize from the dishonest trader's store in Nieneta. The head of the judicial police, Yacouba Farta, presented some samples to the media. According to him, the trader justified his act by the fact that he wanted money to settle a debt of more than 2 million CFA francs. According to Mr. Farta, the trader has been carrying out this activity for almost five years. He invited the population to remain vigilant and to report any suspicious cases because it cannot be ruled out that this practice is limited to sorghum only and that this network is the only one to engage in this type of unhealthy activity.Source: Burkina Information Agency
