Boulkiemde Authorities Announce Emergency Maintenance for Villa Culvert

Boulkiemde: A technical mission from the Ministry of Homeland Construction assessed on Thursday the advanced state of degradation of the culvert in Villa, in the municipality of Bingo. This intervention aims to launch emergency maintenance work to secure this strategic crossing point before the onset of the rainy season.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the delegation, led by the regional director of Nando, Yassia Ouedraogo, accompanied by the provincial director of Boulkiemde, Souleymane Tingueri, visited the site to assess the extent of the damage. Essential for local mobility, the Villa culvert provides the link between the municipalities of Bingo, Kokologho, and National Route No. 1 (RN1).

Severely weakened during the 2025 rainy season by the force of the stormwaters, the structure is now threatening to collapse, jeopardizing traffic flow and access to the area. "It was more than urgent to schedule maintenance work on the structure while waiting to plan for a larger culvert in the coming days," the ministry delegation stated.

These reinforcement works aim to immediately restore the functionality of the crossing to avoid a complete disruption of traffic. This solution is considered essential by local authorities, including Yacouba Gouem, President of the Special Delegation (PDS) of Bingo. He praised the responsiveness of the technical services. For him, this intervention is crucial as the winter season approaches in order to guarantee "the safe passage of the population and the opening up of the municipality."

While these emergency works address the most pressing needs, the ministry's technicians have nevertheless specified that a more permanent and structural solution is already being studied to definitively replace this structure on this vital axis.
