Gorom-gorom: The Association for Culture and Development (ACD) launched the first edition of the Festival of Cultural Diversity in the Sahel through a press conference in Gorom-Gorom. This endeavor is designed to enhance social cohesion, foster dialogue, and promote community spirit in the Oudalan province.
According to Burkina Information Agency, the press conference was led by Issoufa Mouzerata Dicko, cultural promoter and president of ACD, along with members of the organizing committee. The event was held on Wednesday, June 24, 2026, in Tondikara, in the Liptako region's commune of Gorom-Gorom.
Scheduled to take place on June 27 and 28, 2026, at the Place de la R©volution in Gorom-Gorom, the festival will serve as a platform for meeting, expression, and promotion of the cultural wealth of the Burkinabe Sahel. Organizers aim to promote cultural diversity, strengthen social cohesion, and foster peaceful coexistence among different communities through artistic performances, exhibitions, and various cultural activities.
"Through this festival, we want to create a framework for dialogue and fraternity between the people, while highlighting the cultural heritage that constitutes a wealth for our region," stated Mr. Dicko. He emphasized that the initiative seeks to preserve cultural values and strengthen social ties, which are crucial for addressing development and peace challenges.
During the press event, the organizing committee called for robust support from administrative, customary, and religious authorities, partners, cultural actors, media, and the general public to ensure the success of this inaugural edition. The organizers aspire for the festival to become a permanent feature on the cultural calendar of the Liptako region, contributing to peace, intercultural dialogue, and social cohesion.
The festival will be under the patronage of the Minister of Communication, Culture, Arts and Tourism, Gilbert Pingdwend© Ou©draogo, and chaired by the High Commissioner of the province of Oudalan, Valentin Mar©. It will also receive sponsorship from the president of the special delegation of the commune of Gorom-Gorom, Sibiri Neya, with co-sponsorship from the Chairman and CEO of IDOIL Energy, Dr. Ibrahim Dicko, and the Chairman and CEO of COF SARL, Oufene Ag Tiwara.
