Ouagadougou: The 2026-2027 academic year in Burkina Faso is marked by a focus on enhancing quality technical and vocational education, as announced by the Minister of Secondary Education and Vocational and Technical Training, Moumouni Zoungrana. Speaking at the launch of the administrative year, the minister emphasized the government's commitment to improving access to technical training to boost the employability of learners.
According to Burkina Information Agency, Minister Zoungrana highlighted the importance of quality supervision by educators to ensure academic success and meet the country's demand for skilled workers, technicians, and engineers. He called on teaching staff to actively contribute to fulfilling this need.
The minister announced a decree mandating institutions to provide technical and vocational education, underscoring its significance. This fall, second-year classes in industrial technology will commence, and specialized vocational high schools are set to open soon in Bagr, Gomponsom, Samendni, Kaya, and Orodara. Additionally, a vocational high school for fashion design is in development.
The head of the department revealed that a directory of professions has been created to guide young people in making informed career choices. He encouraged students to embrace the academic year with rigor and discipline, stressing that building a country requires order and dedication.
