Sanaba Agricultural Volunteers Mobilize to Maintain Rice and Cowpea Fields

Banwa: The agricultural Volunteers for the Defense of the Homeland (VDP) of Sanaba mobilized on Monday, September 14, 2026, to maintain their rice and cowpea fields through a weeding operation.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the 25 volunteers, equipped with agricultural tools, engaged in weeding the plots to eliminate weeds competing with rice and cowpea plants for water and nutrients. The operation spanned six hectares of rice and one hectare of cowpeas, aiming to promote healthy crop development and improve yield prospects.

Throughout the day, the agricultural VDPs focused on maintaining the plots, with the hope that the crops will mature under favorable conditions. Rubain Dakuyo, the head of the agricultural VDP, expressed confidence in the continuation of rains, which are crucial for the plants' development until maturity.
