Bobo-dioulasso: The 22nd edition of the National Culture Week (SNC) commenced on Saturday at the Sangoule Lamizana stadium, Bobo-Dioulasso, with an opening show lauded as "magnificent" by countless festival-goers attending the ceremony.
According to Burkina Information Agency, the stadium was filled to capacity from the early evening as the public eagerly awaited the commencement of the event. Several cultural figures and spectators, speaking to AIB, expressed their satisfaction with the artistic spectacle, which melded dance, choreography, and musical performances, effectively showcasing the rich cultural heritage of Burkina Faso.
Director and producer Kadi Traore commended the show's quality, describing it as "magnificent" with "very beautiful choreography" and "superb dancers." She emphasized that the performance highlighted Burkina Faso's immense cultural potential, asserting that the country does not need foreign artists to fill its venues and advocating for better support and increased promotion of national artists.
Similarly, TV presenter Mami Yere was amazed by the ceremony's quality, underscoring the professionalism of the country's choreographers and directors. She celebrated the audience's enthusiasm, which remained high until the event's conclusion, and expressed pride in the cultural essence showcased during the performance.
Dancer and choreographer Yaya Sanou noted the strong emotional impact of the show, praising the dancers and the entire team for their efforts. He expressed hope for the continuation of festivities under the themes of peace and national unity.
Cultural promoter Sita Sere Konate acknowledged the authorities' dedication to culture, suggesting this ceremony bodes well for the success of the 2026 National Culture Week. She emphasized the necessity of promoting national cultures that have long been overlooked.
Dembele Sanou, the provincial director in charge of Culture for Kossin, described the opening ceremony as an affirmation of Burkina Faso's cultural identity and sovereignty, reflecting resilience and capacity for mobilization. He highlighted the richness of this edition's program and encouraged the participating troupes to compete with a spirit of fair play to benefit future generations.
Under the banner of promoting cultural heritage and the role of youth, SNC 2026 will proceed with various competitions and artistic events in the city of Sya.
